Bio: About Rudy Gay
Rudy Gay was born in North Carolina, attended school in Connecticut and New York, and made hs way to college at Bowie State (Maryland) currently resides in Baltimore County. My new Album Love Rising was 5 years in the making. For about 10 years I thought I was done with the music business. As a member of the group ACE Spectrum, I experienced music industry success in 1970’s when the band put out three albums with Atlantic Records. The group’s début album “Inner Spectrum” featured our most popular song “Don’t Send Nobody Else”. Rudy says being in the music industry at a young age was a tough experience, “Think about it, one minute you have a major recording contract and life is great but then the next minute it’s all gone”. It was a very humbling experience. In a blink of an eye life changes. I am really excited about the restart of my career because I really thought that I was retired from the music. But one day while hanging out with my daughter Brett, and going over the songs I had written, I realized I wasn’t done yet. I started writing again and now here we are… I am very excited to share with you my new album “Love Risin” When he’s not making music, Gay, who enjoys horticulture and landscaping, likes to tend to his vegetable garden and plants. And depending on the success of “Love Risin,” there just might be a follow up. “I’ve been into music all my life. I’ve got plenty of songs in me,” said Gay. “The music — it’ll always be in me.”
Rudy Gay leads a low-key lifestyle and has lots of time to spend enjoying his family. Gay’s daughters have all been in the music business, and one Brett Gay, recently released a single on iTunes as well. His son, Rudy Gay Jr., didn’t venture into the music industry, but he’s talented in his own right — as an NBA player for the Memphis Grizzlies.
